Indium Tin Oxide

Indium Tin Oxide (ITO)

Plasma Quest Ltd has developed a world-leading Indium Tin Oxide deposition process. Using our HiTUS thin film deposition process, we have been able to develop thin film coatings of ITO with a combination of excellent transmission and simultaneous high conductivity. Furthermore, this can be achieved at low temperatures with no substrate heating. This enables us to coat thin films of ITO onto low temperature, high transparency plastics such as PET and PEN. The additional benefit of the Plasma interaction enables PQL to control the material properties of the Indium Tin Oxide including whether the coating is crystalline or amorphous. When the films are amorphous, we can also demonstrate high levels of flexibility with a bend radius of <1cm without cracking of the film.

The PQL thin film coatings of Indium Tin Oxide are available as part of our contract coating service for bespoke applications and unique/customer defined substrates. For simple substrates, we are able to provide samples on a smaller scale. Please contact us for more details and specific quotations depending on your requirements.

Please note: our current large-area ITO deposition tool is currently off-line for annual maintenance. Please contact us for the latest update and availability of individual slides.

Key highlights of our unique ITO process include:

  • Optically transparent and electrically conductive
    (< 4 x 10-4 Ω.cm)
  • Low surface roughness
  • Uniform sheet resistance
  • High average Visible Light Transmission (VLT)
  • Reflecting in the infrared range
  • Deposition onto Kapton, PEN and PET (no substrate heating or post annealing)

Indium Tin Oxide Coatings are available in a range of resistivities and have been deposited at either low temperature (no intentional heating) and modeterate temperatures (~200 Degrees Celcius). The product codes are listed below. At the bottom of the page is an example of our excellent transmission.
